I Learn Something Every Day

What is the last thing you learned?

God never stops teaching us. There is something to be learned every moment of every day! James 3:5

When we think of strength, we think of bulky biceps and chiseled torsos. The tongue, by comparison, is just a tiny muscle that doesn’t seem strong at all. Yet, the tongue wields the power of words that speak from our hearts. And once words get out, they cannot be contained. Like a small spark that spreads across an entire forest, so too can our words bring about sweeping destruction.

Lord, please help me to guard my tongue. Before I speak, give me the wisdom to examine my own heart so that any malice, hate, or ridicule may not escape my mouth. I have seen and felt the destruction of an untamed tongue, and I do not wish to cause such harm to others. Watch over my thoughts so that my words may honor You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Everyone likes to feel like they look good. We are vain creatures, and society does a good job of judging everyone based on their outward appearance.

Saint Peter writes these verses specifically to women. The verse before says:

Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel” (1 Peter 3:3).

1 Peter 3:3-4 begs an interesting question that has been discussed by man through all time: what, exactly, is beauty? Saint Peter urges women that it is not their outward appearances that make them beautiful but instead an inner beauty that consists of a meek and quiet spirit. How exactly do we demonstrate and develop a meek and quiet spirit?

A spirit such as Saint Peter suggests is developed through our inner spirit as well as our outward appearance. If a person cares so much about their outward appearance, there is less likelihood that they will strongly develop their inner beauty. It can be so hard to develop the inner when all the things in society seem to indicate that the outer is what defines beauty. Sadly, “sex sells,” and movies, music, advertisements, and fashion all grab with greed for more sales, with no thought of the consequences of their campaigns.

Individually we must reflect on what it means to be beautiful. Think back on your own life: recall a time when you felt beautiful. Why did you feel that way? Was it because of your outward appearance? An act of lust? Or was it something more meaningful, like a loving embrace or glance that penetrated the skin and went deeper.

Clothing youthful appearance, and even charm fades. “Favour is deceitful, and beauty is in vain: in a woman the fears the Lord, shall be praised” ( Proverbs 31:30 ). God is not asking us to fear Him, but instead take heed of His teachings.  Saint Peter crafts a more delicate version of the same message, that beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and the beholder matters to God. I thank You Father God for teaching me to hear your Words to teach me what You want in order to glorify Yourself through me. Thank You God. Bless the name of Jesus Christ thank You, Holy Spirit for Your help in Jesus Christ name Amen

Are we being brainwashed without knowing it? “Hollywood Takeover” is an NTD Original Documentary that pulls back the curtain on how Hollywood is helping to further a global adversary’s agenda, the consequences of that on the future, and what brave individuals are doing to change the tide.

The survival of the United States depends on people waking up to the Chinese Communist Party’s relentless literal and cognitive takeover of our country. At this crucial historical moment, the truth may be inconvenient to many, but we all have a choice to make: will we continue to feed the red dragon?
