Have you ever been hungry and seen what looked like a delicious piece of fruit only to take a bite and…eww! Even good-looking fruit can sometimes taste bad, and fruit that has not been taken care of well will be rotten. I think you can probably see where I am going with this metaphor!
We are the fruits of our labor. The effort that we put into our faith journey is what we will get out. If you didn’t study for a test at all or, better yet, studied a book filled with all the wrong answers, you wouldn’t expect to do very well. The same is true of life.
In these verses in Matthew, we are told that men do not gather thorns and thistles, we gather grapes and figs. We don’t want the bad and painful, we want the delicious and healthy. The way we care for the plants and trees that the fruit grows on is important to the quality of the fruit. The same is obviously true of our spiritual journey and the quality of our relationship with Christ. How do you tend your plants?
Dearest Father, patient Shepherd, help me to tend my spiritual plant. My fruitis already ripe,, but I know that I must continue to care about it with you as my guide so I don’t lose the sweetness of your Word. I trust that you will send me Your Scriptures pleasing to your taste. With enthusiasm and diligence, to learn the ways of Your only Son, Whose blood was shed to save the whole world, so that we may live with You in our hearts here on earth and in home in heaven with You. Together we are and will stay forever more, in Jesus name Amen.
There is power in prayer when we partner together in a local church or on the internet. THe Bible often talks about this. Harmony we are to seek with each other no matter how we feel. We need to confess our issues one to another to help fight the devil. We need to commune together by praying for each other. There is strength in prayer and keeping God first place helps guide us. Prayer is the first weapon of defenence. This parying is strong enough to bring healing and deliverance. We are righteous, and we owe that to Jesus because of His blood, which means that your continuous praying will result in blessings.
Dear God, I thank you for listening to my prayers. There are many times things have gone wrong because of lack of prayer. I do know when I put you first place in my prayers You show up in my praayers.I have endured various challenges. Father, I pray in Jesus name for my fellow brothers and sisiters in Christ Jesus who may be experiencing trials and tribulations of various natures. I love you and thank you Lord for their victory for your glory. Believing in You their stress will fade away. I trust that in Jesus’ name Amen
