Praise be to Him! Rejoice to our Lord! The Creator, The Father, The Healer. Imagine entering the world’s greatest hospital after feeling terribly ill for some time. The doctor examines you and says that you are very sick, but he can cure you by teaching you to cure yourself. You ask the cost and if he accepts your medical insurance. He smiles and says ‘By coming to me, I have accepted you’.
You explain that after years of sickness you have many preexisting conditions. Would they void his acceptance? He explains that due to the nature of the sickness and sin, we all have preexisting conditions. Acknowledging those preexisting conditions and trying to cure them is actually required in order to receive his healing. You would stand on the rooftops and tell every person within an earshot about this miraculous healer who only asks that you come to him, acknowledge that you are ill, and accept his healing.
God loves us more than we could fathom, more than we could ever hope to repay. Therefore give thanks and rejoice in him each and every day, for in forgiveness we may find our spirits cleansed, our minds detoxed and our hearts healed. Though the Pharisees sought to arrest Jesus, they could not yet, for it was not the time appointed by the Father for Jesus to die. On other occasions, the people sought to stone him, but could not, for “his hour had not yet come. ” And before Pilate, he asserted that Pilate could have no authority over him to crucify him except that it had been given to him of the Father. The great temptations which thine eyes saw, and the signs, and the wonders, and the mighty hand, and the stretched out arm, whereby the LORD thy God brought thee out: so shall the LORD thy God do unto all the people of whom thou art afraid.
Then they sought to take him: but no man laid hands on him, because his hour was not yet come. And many of the people believed on him, and said, When Christ cometh, will he do more miracles than these which this man hath done? Moses assured Israel, on the verge of their entering the promised land, that Jehovah would fight for them in conquering the land of Canaan even as he had fought for them in bringing them out of bondage in Egypt, by His mighty power. Even so, he whose power saved us will also enable us to live a victorious Christian life.
O Lord, all things are under the sway of your providence. Not only in the life and sacrificial death of your Son, but also in our lives, the plan of you, our Heavenly Father, unfolds. This gives us confidence as we face the trials and temptations of life, and we know you will work it all together for our good and your glory.
